We are very fortunate in Parsons green, in that we have a treasure actually in the grounds of the park, in the form of an ancient sweathouse. The origins of these are lost in the mists of time, but it was thought that the idea came from Scandinavia before, or during the time of the Vikings. The Sweathouse in Parsons Green is in excellent condition, and is on display. Unfortunately despite their fragility, no sweathouse in the Republic of Ireland is protected as a national monument.
